Minute Rice Vs Converted Rice
Uncle Ben’s minute rice is great if you want to save on cooking time and so much more easier for those who don’t have the energy to bring out the pans, its perfect for those long days of work, and coming home to a nice almost instant dinner. All you have to do is cut open the pouch, squeeze the rice through the packet so that they separate and emerge all fluffy and warm from the microwave, you don’t want to get clumps of cold hard rice.
For cooking Uncle Ben’s converted rice the cooking method can vary depending on whether the rice is white or whole grain brown rice. When you’re preparing converted white rice bring the water and rice to a boil on medium low heat, then reduce heat, cover and let it simmer for 20 minutes. After that remove the pan from the stove, let it sit for 5 minutes or until the water has been sucked out by the rice. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving, and add a little chunk of butter to the rice, to make it nice and juicy.
For Uncle Ben’s converted brown rice the method is slightly different, brown rice is about a 1 to 2 ratio of rice to water, and requires an additional 10 minutes of cooking, for a total of 30 minutes simmering on the stove top before serving.
